The Lucero pattern blends mountain, seed, and rain symbolism rooted in Zapotec tradition. The stepped mountain or star motif represents strength and protection, small diamonds symbolize seeds and continuity of life, and the elongated diamond with a trailing line reflects rain or lightning associated with Cocijo. Together, the design honors land, fertility, and the sustaining forces of nature.
The colors in this blanket are created using traditional, land sourced dyes: deep reds and soft pinks from cochineal insect harvested from prickly pear cactus; rich blues from indigo plant; warm yellows from marigold and Mexican wild tarragon; golden to earthy browns from pomegranate husks; browns and blacks from pecan shells, walnut hulls, and tree bark; and greens from marush plant and alfalfa leaves, often achieved by blending indigo and yellow dyes. Sizing for your Saddle
Please measure your saddle before ordering to ensure proper fit. (Measure your saddle length front to back. Add about 2” to each end for overall pad length). Pad thickness compresses to ⅝”
